| From September 8th till the 11th, an A-bomb Exhibition and Seminars, sponsored by Volda University were held. Thanks to Mr.Tengyo Kura, lecturer at Volda University, the university and the people of Volda, I was able to attend the event. From Hiroshima, there were 10 people, Mr.Koichiro Maeda, Director of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, Mr.Nori Nakamura, RERF (Radiation Effect Research Foundation) Chief Scientist, and musician, Ms.Sizzle Otaka, myself and six others attended. The A-bomb Exhibition was very well organized. I was able to sense the strong feeling the editors had toward achieving peace when I saw the panel with 48 photographs displayed, which I had never seen before. The following day, the seminar began with my talk about my experience as an A-bomb victim. I was very impressed that the audience listened with great interest throughout my talk. After my presentation, five students majoring in Journalism at Volda University College, interviewed me. They carried a camera and asked for my opinion on what Hiroshima thought about the Nuclear calamity in Iran, the peaceful usage of nuclear materials, and the dropping of the A-bomb on Hiroshima. Actually, three days before the seminar, I was asked to talk about my experience at junior and senior high schools. I talked to about 700 junior, senior high school students including university students. Also it was televised throughout Norway by the National TV station. |

At the end of his talk, Mr.Mjos added, "The people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki have gone through the traumatic experience and not only you transmit your true feelings to the people around the world but you are appealing to the people that it should never happen again. The agony and horror you have experienced should never be experienced by anyone again. We are proud of you for telling us about your experience. As the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, I am very grateful to you and I hope that you will continue to contribute to peace activities, not only for the people of today but for the next generation yet to be born. I am positive that a peaceful world with no nuclear weapons can be obtained with the support of everyone in this world." I was very moved and am grateful to his kind consideration toward the people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Moreover, I was surprised to hear that my talk about my experience was taken up by a TV Station in Oslo, the capital of Norway, and put on the internet. About 50 questions were sent and I have been asked to be interviewed. Though, I had no plans to return to Norway, I am now considering to visit Norway again. ![]() |
